If you are a friend of mine, be careful as you're likely to end up in one of my paintings. I started my "Boxing" series to learn how to paint the flesh, and soon moved to painting faces to test my artistic skills. I work from snap shots from my own personal history of family, friends and anyone who happened to be passing by my camera's lens. I look for faces that can tell a story without saying a word. The faces tend to be whimsical to match my slightly weird personality. I like my painting style to be one of planar analysis, or in other words, the way light falls and reacts to different surfaces. To get just the right change in surface is what I strive to do in all of my paintings.
