AUSTIN — Over four evenings at vibrant downtown venues in Austin, Texas, Kevin Paige displayed his fine motorsport art for Formula 1 enthusiasts from all across the globe. The Houston-based artist presented more than 25 oil and watercolor pieces in two exclusive exhibits for guests in town to enjoy the United States F1 Grand Prix, the only race of its kind in the USA.

In the buzzing Rainey Street district, the boutique Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt hosted a selection of Kevin’s Formula 1 paintings with current, past, and historic racecars and drivers on display throughout the weekend. Over three evenings, guests spoke with Kevin as he painted in the stylish “living room” area of the hotel, watching him create an acrylic artwork of four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel racing his Ferrari as they sipped wine and cocktails during the hotel’s happy hour. At one point, Vettel himself found out that Kevin was painting his likeness and purchased two original Kevin Paige Art watercolors for his own collection.

The Embassy Suites property right on Austin’s classic South Congress district also hosted Kevin’s artwork throughout the weekend. The towering atrium hotel welcomed its guests with a display of original Kevin Paige Art pieces behind the reception desk and through the entryway to the lobby. Guests also had the opportunity to chat with Kevin as he painted a Lewis Hamilton piece with acrylic colors, offering a vibrant piece of artistic entertainment during their USGP weekend.

The F1 race in Austin completes a series of four global motorsports events at which Kevin’s art has been on display this year. A MotoGP race, also in Austin, followed by F1 weekends in Monaco and Montreal continued a career in the motorsport world that Kevin began in 2002. Each season, his collection expands to cover the greatest moments, venues, cars and drivers in Formula 1 and MotoGP.

Custom cartoons are created with your input, from driver, vehicle to logos, whatever you’d like to be captured. Kevin will do a sketch based off of our conversations then create the ‘real deal’. The entire process takes around a week.

Digital drawings

KPA often uses digital drawings to flesh out ideas to create in oil or watercolor.  Here is an example of a digital drawing on the left and the finished watercolor version on the right.  The digital drawings go hand-in-hand with custom commissions.
